The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Media Office has launched a mobile application to help Filipino Catholics stay updated with Church news and faith-related content.
Through the “Faith Watch” application, users can be updated with online Mass schedules, submit prayer intentions, watch videos and stay updated with news from partner organizations.
Msgr. Pedro Quitorio III, the CBCP media director, said Faith Watch aims to be a medium for new evangelization amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Faith Watch app will just be one of the many initiatives that the Catholic Church in the Philippines will come up [with] in order to pursue its work of the new evangelization and to adapt to the changing realities brought about by the pandemic,” Quitorio told the Varsitarian.
“With the collaboration of dioceses nationwide, we hope to be more responsive to the fast-emerging pastoral needs of Filipinos here and abroad,” he added.
The app was developed by Areopagus Communications in partnership with the CBCP Media Office.
According to Quitorio, the app was conceptualized way back in 2018, but its development was accelerated in 2020 as the pandemic made religious gatherings difficult.
Using the app, Catholics can stay updated with news from news media outlets PressOne.PH, CBCP News and Vatican News. They can also access daily Mass readings, reflections, catechism and contents from the Faith Watch YouTube channel.
Users can also send their prayer intentions through the app by submitting their names, email addresses and prayer requests.
The Faith Watch is available for download on both the iOS and Android platforms, free of charge. Christine Joyce Paras
