THE UNIVERSITY will open a vaccination site on Monday, July 26, the UST Facilities Management Office (FMO) announced on Sunday.

According to the city government of Manila, 800 first-dose Covid-19 vaccine doses for priority groups A1 to A5 will be available in the initial rollout at the UST Practice Gym tomorrow.

Gates will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

UST medical clerks and government health workers will administer the shots, FMO Director Fr. Dexter Austria, O.P. told the Varsitarian.

Due to the limited number of available doses, Austria said only individuals who had pre-registered for vaccines would be inoculated.

To enter UST, those who would avail themselves of vaccines should present their printed waiver forms or QR codes.

As vaccine stock increases, however, Austria said the University could accept walk-in vaccinations.

Medicine Dean Ma. Lourdes Maglinao initiated UST’s hosting of Covid-19 vaccination, Austria said.

“Pero there was a lack of vaccine supply. It was only now that the Manila [local government unit] contacted again UST for the site since there is an ample amount of vaccine,” Austria said.

“Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. readily approved it,” he added.

As of July 24, Manila has recorded 68,131 Covid-19 cases, with 66,224 recoveries and 1,267 deaths.
