THE UNIVERSITY will be providing pocket WiFi units to 1,000 students in the first term of Academic Year (AY) 2021 to 2022.
The Central Student Council (CSC) has opened a Google Forms link for students interested in the program.
CSC President Krizia Bricio told the Varsitarian that the units would be distributed as part of the University’s “Connectivity Assistance Program.”
Each pocket WiFi unit will come with 8 gigabytes of data per month for five to seven months or one term.
Students who will be picked will be required to pay a P300 reconnection fee.
UST introduced the program in the second term of AY 2019 to 2020.
Bricio said the council was tapped by ex-Engineering Dean Philipina Marcelo to find students who would be needing internet connectivity assistance for the upcoming AY, which will still make use of the enriched virtual mode of instruction and rely mostly on online classes.
The 1,000 units to be distributed in the upcoming term were excess units from last year, Bricio said.
Regular classes will start on Thursday, Aug. 12. Jacqueline B. Martinez
