Tiger TV grabs 2 awards in US campus media conference

UST Tiger TV won two awards in the 81st Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) College Media Conference, whose winners were announced virtually on March 6.

Tiger TV’s “#USTeXP” livestream and virtual campus tour was named the Best Live Broadcast Promotional Event, while the “Life After UST” talk show won the Best Use of Graphics award.

Tiger TV, the broadcasting arm of the Tiger Media Network (TMN) for television, went against eight other universities and college media.

#USTeXP: The UST Minecraft Tour was launched in August 2020 in coordination with the UST Minecraft Team, the Office of Public Affairs, the Office of Student Affairs and the UST Central Student Council.

The event accommodated students who were not able to enter the UST Minecraft server for the virtual campus tour earlier last year due to limited slots.

Kathya de Leon, a third-year communication student and social media representative for “Life After UST,” told the Varsitarian that receiving the awards was proof that the “TMN is producing quality content for our audiences and that each and every student volunteer working for the network is giving their best.”

The online talk show featured three UST alumni and an expert, who talked about how students could transition to becoming working professionals after graduation.

TMN collaborated with the UST Career and Counseling Center and Smart Communications for the seven-episode show.

TMN was also nominated for Best College TV Station and Best Event Promo at the conference.

Last year, Tiger TV bagged three awards: Best Sports Director, Best Show Promotional Poster and Best Use of Graphics.

The IBS College Media Conference is an annual multimedia conference organized by IBS, the oldest collegiate broadcasting association in the United States.
