THOMASIAN dance crews launched “Indakan Para sa Cagayan,” a fundraising dance workshop for the victims of Typhoon “Ulysses,” on Nov. 28.
The event was organized by intercollegiate dance crew Ronins, as part of the group’s second anniversary celebration.
Headed by executive board members Tisha Ayonayon, Kirby Martin and Kaela Madrunio, the workshop has raised P83,426.34 as of Dec. 4.
Proceeds will be handed over to the Philippine Alliance of XSeminarians and given to residents of Marikina, Rizal, Pampanga, Cagayan and Bicol, specifically Camarines Sur.
The sessions were pre-recorded so that dancers from all around the country could enjoy the class without worrying about their Internet connection.
Choreographers who took part in the sessions were Thomasian alumni, namely Darlo Ilagan, Meeko Evangelista, Benjie Saing and Davy Peralta.
Ronins co-captain Joaquin Diaz, juvenile coach PJ Perez, Jolo Santos, Kim Lopez, Nica Santos, JP Alcantara and Macky Garcia taught in the workshop as well.
“We reached out to other Thomasian dance teams for our event to [reach a wider audience],” Ayonayon told the Varsitarian.
Among the participating dance crews were Aces PH, CASA Footworks, Comach Precom Dance Troupe, CRS Performing Arts Guild, EHS La Danza Club, Extreme A, Juvenile Dance Crew, One SHADE Dance Squad, Paci Rhutmos Dance Troupe, PRIME, Project Pax, and Royals.
The songs used were “Put it all on me” by Ed Sheeran, “Give her some money” by Maliibu Miitch, “Jewelz” by Anderson Paak, “Restroom occupied” by Yella Beezy, “Life puzzle” by Arthur Nery and “Malokera” by MC Lan, Skrillex and TroyBoi.
The workshop runs until Dec. 12.
