Thomasians panic as Blackboard briefly blacks out

The UST Blackboard website went down on the evening of Thursday, the first day of classes after the four-day Undas break implemented by the University from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3.

Students were unable to access their Blackboard accounts due to a server error.

Accessing the ust.blackboard.com link returned an HTTP 503 Service Unavailable server error response code, which appears when a website’s server is down due to either maintenance or overload.

Some Thomasians panicked, while others hoped for an extension of the Undas break or submission deadlines.

“Pati Blackboard pagod na,” said one Thomasian on Facebook.

“Acad break na raw kasi,” added another student.

Some Thomasians complained about being unable to submit requirements and access course materials due to the outage.

Blackboard became accessible again Friday midnight. J.B.T. Lim
