UST Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. urged Thomasians to seek the “light of Christ” amid life’s trials, in his message during the Mass that preceded the lighting of Christmas lights and decorations on campus.
Ang’s message was read by Vice Rector Fr. Isaias Tiongco, O.P., who led the anticipated Mass for the First Sunday of Advent.
“A Christmas without light is not Christmas, let there be light in our soul, in our heart as we continue walking into triumph. Let there be forgiveness to others, let there be no hostilities or darkness,” Ang said.
“As we are about to turn on the light of the Christmas tree, may we not grow anxious and weary in our pilgrimage in life. We wish for the light of Christ to be in us as we tread the road through trials,” he added.
The Eucharistic celebration marked the start of the Paskuhan season in UST.
This year’s Paskuhan celebrations are under the theme, “The Pilgrimage: Our Road through Trials, Our Road to Triumph.”
University landmarks, including the Main Building, Santisimo Rosario Parish Church, Plaza Mayor, and the Arch of the Centuries, were illuminated with Christmas lights and ornaments.
The Paskuhan Mass will be celebrated on Dec. 17.
All UST Paskuhan festivities will be broadcast on the UST Facebook page. J.B. Angco
