UST grad is No. 8 in October 2021 chem eng’g board exams

A THOMASIAN ranked eighth in the October 2021 licensure examinations for chemical engineers, where UST notched a 45.95-percent passing rate.

Joshua Santiago Aldave led the new batch of Thomasian chemical engineers with a score of 81.30 percent.

UST fielded 37 examinees, of which 17 passed. In the pre-pandemic November 2019 examinations, UST had an 82.95-percent passing rate, or 73 out of 88 examinees.

Al Christian Regorggo Gobres of the top-performing school University of the Philippines-Diliman (UP Diliman) is this year’s topnotcher, with a score of 84-percent.

The national passing rate dropped to 47.27 percent, or 321 out of 679 examinees, from 71.41 percent in November 2019, or 899 out of 1,259 examinees.

The examinations were held from Oct. 3 to 5. It was postponed from earlier schedules in 2020 and in May this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
