UST aces nursing boards for 6th year in a row

THE UNIVERSITY recorded a 100-percent passing rate in the licensure examinations for nurses for the sixth straight year, with three Thomasian examinees in the top 10.

All 36 examinees from UST made the cut, but UST did not qualify for a top-performing school spot as it failed to meet the 50-examinee requirement.

Erica Mae Ortiz, who had a score of 88 percent, led the newest batch of Thomasian nurses and placed sixth among the 7,746 individuals who took the exam.

Also in the top 10 were Thomasians Rylina Olga Mae Balisong and Christine Joanne Contreras, who were on the ninth spot with similar 87.40-percent marks.

Haydee Bacani of the Philippine Women’s University in Manila emerged as this year’s topnotcher, scoring 89.40 percent.

Saint Louis University was the only top performing school this year. It had 75 examinees.

The national passing rate stood at 64.65 percent, or 5,008 passers out of 7,746 examinees.

The University’s five-year streak of being the top-performing nursing school in the Philippines was snapped due to the low number of Thomasians who took the exams.

For reference, the University had sent out an average of 340 examinees annually in the past five years.

The July 2021 licensure examinations were held from July 3 to 4.
