UST’s vaccination site is open to all Thomasians, non-Thomasians, Manileños and non-Manileños, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said on Monday.
In a conversation with UST Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P., Domagoso assured that anyone could avail themselves of vaccines at the University.
Asked by Ang if the University could inoculate its students with the vaccines from the city government, Domagoso said: “[They’re for] anybody. It’s about human beings. Open policy ang Maynila.”
Echoing a directive from Domagoso, Medicine Dean Ma. Lourdes Maglinao said those who would wish to get inoculated at the UST Practice Gym should pre-register at manilacovid19vaccine.ph and put UST as their home address.
“This is a very very good start because we will be able to timely vaccinate the Thomasian community with this endeavor. Estudyante, titser, pamilya ng estudyante, pamilya ng titser, support staff—basta gusto mong magpabakuna, you are most welcome,” Maglinao told the Varsitarian.
“Maski hindi ka taga-Manila, you are welcome to have yourself vaccinated here,” she added.
Registered individuals should present their printed waiver forms or QR codes to enter the University and prior to vaccination.
Vaccination schedules will be posted on the gates of the University, as well as on social media, Maglinao said.
The UST Practice Gym is open as a vaccination site from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
About 1,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were administered by UST medical clerks and government health workers during the initial rollout. The first batch of 800 vaccines was exhausted after just two hours.
Maglinao stressed that the vaccination system was “fair and square” and would prioritize those who had pre-registered.
“Hindi lang ito one time, big time. This is going to be a continuous activity. Hangga’t may Covid, meron tayong partisipasyon sa nangyayari,” she said. with reports from Jacqueline Martinez
