HALALAN 2021: How, where and when to vote

UST HALALAN 2021 will be conducted online.

The Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on May 3 that this year’s student polls would be conducted via the Zoom virtual meeting platform and an electronic voting system (EVoSys), from May 10 to 15, excluding May 13.

Zoom meetings will serve as voting precincts for both scheduled and open precinct elections this year.

Links will be provided to presidents of every section from.

Voters will be instructed to log in to the EVoSys during their assigned schedules. They will receive their unique passwords to access the polls through private messages from Comelec commissioners. Each student will be given 10 minutes to vote for their chosen local and central student council bets.

The casting of votes will have a uniform 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. schedule.

Students who will not be able to vote during the scheduled elections may vote under the open precinct elections, as long as they provide their student number to Comelec commissioners.

Local Comelec units may request for the addition of the “abstain” vote on their ballots for their respective local elections, provided that there is a valid constitutional basis.

Thomasians can only vote once and they cannot substitute for another student, with or without the latter’s consent. Violators will be reprimanded after the first offense and suspended after the second offense, according to the student handbook.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, both central and local student council elections were postponed last May 2020, with non-graduating incumbent officers named as interim officers.
