A TOTAL of 674 UST Hospital workers are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19 after receiving their second doses of CoronaVac (Sinovac) vaccines.
Dr. John Hubert Pua, head of the UST Covid-19 Vaccine Logistics Task Force, told the Varsitarian that the health workers received the two doses of the Chinese vaccine within a five-week interval.
“April 12 was the last day of the second dose rollout of Sinovac. Hindi naman nagka-problem. We had it only for three days: April 5, 8 and 12,” he said in an interview.
Pua said the hospital had yet to administer the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to its employees following the Department of Health’s directive to suspend inoculation using the British-Swiss vaccine due to cases of blood clots in people abroad.
The Food and Drug Administration recommended the lifting of the suspension on April 15, seven days after it was implemented.
About 1,000 UST Hospital employees have received AstraZeneca jabs. The second dose has been scheduled for June.
As of April 12, the UST Hospital has inoculated a total of 2,780 individuals, Pua said.
Officials of the hospital have entered into talks with pharmaceutical firm Unilab, the local distributor of the Covavax Covid-19 vaccine for the private sector, for the procurement of vaccines for employees’ immediate family members.
