UST Tiger Radio, the University’s radio broadcasting arm, has made it to the list of the 10 best college radio stations of a United States-based awards body.
The award was presented on Dec. 17 by 2020 college radio ambassador Bret Michaels and the College Radio Foundation, in recognition of Tiger Radio’s “truly outstanding and spirited efforts” during World College Radio Day last Oct. 2.
Tiger Radio broadcasters discussed multiple national issues during their World College Radio Day segment on Oct. 2, including Covid-19 frontliner stories, the shutdown of the country’s biggest media network, the importance of voting and the shift to online learning.
Radio Katipunan 87.9 FM of Ateneo de Manila was also feted this year.
Completing the list of winners were Utah State University’s Aggie Radio 92.3 KBLU-LP, Rogers State University’s KRSC-FM / RSU Radio, University of Nebraska-Omaha’s MavRadio.fm and University of West Georgia’s The Wolf Internet Radio from the United States; Sweden’s University of Gothenburg/ Chalmers University’s K103 Gothenburg Student Radio; Universidad de Costa Rica’s RADIO-E; Italy’s Università del Piemonte Orientale’s Radio 6023; and Webradio EAP of Greece’s Hellenic Open University.
