YOUTH groups from various universities gathered in front of Ateneo de Manila University on Tuesday to call for a national academic break and demand accountability for the Duterte government’s “criminally neglectful response” to the recent typhoons.

The protest action dubbed as “Youth Strike PH” saw scores of protesters hold placards bearing the words “national academic break now,” while chanting “Ang tao, ang bayan, ngayon ay lumalaban.”

The students also raised their concerns over red-baiting, militarization and press freedom, and urged the youth to “fight back against these injustices.”

Attendees practiced health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and maintained social distancing throughout the protest.

Meanwhile, photos of a banner saying “OUST DUTERTE!” hanging from UST’s main gate circulated online on Thursday morning.

UST officials however said the guard assigned at the España gate did not find such a banner this morning.
