THE UNIVERSITY’S top photography organization, Fotomasino, mounted “Litrato Para sa Kapwa Pilipino,” an online photo exhibit and fundraising drive for victims of the recent typhoons.
The exhibition was held on the organization’s Facebook page where the photos were posted along with their corresponding prices. Donors had the option to get a printed copy of the photo as a token for their donation.
The drive, in partnership with the Student Organizations Coordinating Council and Central Student Council, raised P20,211.
Besides Fotomasino’s own members, photographers from other Thomasian organizations and the Varsitarian also contributed photos.
“We [saw] this as an opportunity to ask help from different UST photography organizations to extend our hands as photographers with a single purpose — to help through our art and photographs,” Bianca Redondo, president of the organization, told the Varsitarian.
“Litrato Para sa Kapwa Pilipino” was the first fundraising exhibit mounted by Fotomasino.
Redondo said Fotomasino was planning to make it an annual event and inspire more organizations to help other people.
The initiative inspired Knight Snap, a photography organization at Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila, to conduct its own photo exhibit and donation drive titled “Larawan Para sa Bayan.”
It became part of the “Tulong Letranista” relief drive held in line with the institution’s 400th anniversary.
“Litrato Para sa Kapwa Pilipino” ran from Nov. 15 to 18. Ma. Jasmine Trisha L. Nepomuceno
