THE UST Central Student Council (CSC) on Saturday bared plans for a benefit concert for victims of the recent typhoons “Rolly” and “Ulysses.”

“We are now planning with the University Events Committee on a donation drive type of concert/telethon to raise funds for our communities,” Robert Gonzales, interim CSC president, said in a Facebook post on Nov. 14.

Gonzales said funds allocated for the Paskuhan festivities this year would be donated to the victims of recent typhoons. A portion of council funds would also be donated, he said.

Gonzales urged Thomasians to help communities affected by the typhoon, even in their own little ways.

“Refuse to glorify resiliency. Demand accountability,” he said in his post.

The Dominican Youth Network of UST-Senior High School on Nov. 12 called for cash and in-kind donations for victims of Typhoon Rolly.

The group is accepting cash donations through Gcash, BPI, BDO and Security Bank. It will also accept in-kind donations such as flashlights, candles, bottled water, face masks, sleeping mats, easy-open canned goods, laundry detergent, toiletries, medicines, blankets and clothes

Those who wish to help may drop their items off at the entrance of the UST Frassati Building.

The UST-Simbahayan Community Development Office is also conducting a relief drive for victims of the recent typhoons.

Simbahayan is seeking in-kind donations of rice, canned goods, mineral water, face masks, hygiene kits, new clothes, blankets, sleeping mats and medicines.

Through the Tulong Tomasino drive, the University initiated basic food and medical support to a partner community in Rodriguez, Rizal affected by Typhoon Ulysses, which hit Luzon provinces on Nov. 11 and 12.

Thomasians can drop their donations on the ground floor of Tan Yan Kee Student Center Building, between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Nov. 16 to 20.

Thomasians willing to help typhoon victims may reach out to any of the following:
